Few names evoke an echo like that of Dinu Lipatti, one of the most brilliant pianists of the 20th century. Born in Romania in 1917, Lipatti displayed a prodigious talent from an early age, astounding audiences with his musical gifts. His artistic integrity as well as his modesty contributed to the creation of a true legend.

Though he lived only until the age of 33, Dinu Lipatti left a precious legacy: his recordings are setting the highest standards still nowadays, influencing generations of musicians and inspiring music lovers around the world.

I am convinced that the Dinu Lipatti competition will have a significant impact on the musical world, bringing young talents to the forefront and perpetuating his artistic legacy. It is no coincidence that it takes place in Craiova - in the 80s, the ”Oltenia” Philharmonic awarded the Dinu Lipatti prize to young pianists in recognition of their exceptional qualities. The revival of this piano competition will consolidate Craiova's status as an important cultural center in Romania and in the musical world, and will continue to recognize Dinu Lipatti's contribution to the field of performing art, inspiring and educating future generations.
